We had our 150th Celebrations Rugby Day on Thursday and what a day it was!
It began at 11h00 with the first match between Kloof High School and George Campbell and ended with our match against Kearsney College. All the tier 1 schools were here and I want to thank them for accepting our invitation. I do not know how many spectators we had, but the stands were packed and a festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the day. Very high quality and entertaining Rugby was played by all the teams and I am sure the spectators left here knowing that KZN has the potential to do well at Craven Week later this year.
The DHS 1st team lost narrowly 22-26 and even though we did not end the day on a winning note, all our supporters left satisfied that we gave it our all. It was a match that we could have won and we had two clear scoring opportunities that we did not take. This is a young team with 10 Grade 11 boys in the side. They will surprise a few teams this year.
My staff worked extremely hard to make the day the success it was. From the 150th Steering Committee under the leadership of Mr Norton to the Rugby staff, Sports Department, Marketing Department, the officials, the boys who helped and the Caterers. They all contributed to making the day a memorable one. It was a fitting celebration of our 150th year.
I want to wish the whole DHS family a relaxing and enjoyable holiday period.
