DHS Rugby Boys Invited to SARU Assessment Camp
Two Durban High School Grade 11 Rugby Players, Lwandile Menze and Celimpilo Gumede, have been invited by the South African Rugby Union to attend The Elite Player Development Phase 2 – U17 Assessment Camp, which will be held at Hugenote High School in Wellington from 1 to 6 October, 2017.
This training camp is part of a high performance programme for promising schoolboy players who have been identified by selectors as players who show signs of early promise. The players are given advice on vital components such as conditioning, correct training and mental skills programmes.
Lwandile Menze (17), who hails from the Eastern Cape, plays for the DHS 1st XV Rugby. Lwandile was also a member of the KZN Craven Week Team this year.
Celimpilo Gumede (17) from Mtubatuba also plays for the DHS 1st XV Rugby. Last year, he attended the SARU U16 Assessment Camp in Paarl and this year he was selected for the SA Schools U19 Rugby Team. Celimpilo also played for KZN Sharks at Craven Week Team this year.
