Thursday 10 May 2018, saw the launch of a partnership between Durban High School and Lamontville Golden Arrows.
This relationship has come to fruition after months of planning and involves incorporating the coaches of the Lamontville Golden Arrows into the Durban High School Football Academy programme.
They will attend the morning sessions and each coach will take a group of boys and work on specific skills. The ages of the boys involved range from 14 to 17 and their abilities range from beginner to excellent.
With the Lamontville Golden Arrows’ coaches’ assistance, our boys will improve in different facets of the game.
They will also assist in upskilling the Durban High School coaches at the Academy sessions, as well as assisting with any courses or programmes at their club.
The launch was attended by the Head of Sport Mr Nathan Pillay, Goal Keeper Coach Ricardo Goncalves, Physical Trainer Pedro Picarro, Diski Team Coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, Head Master Mr AD Pinheiro, Head Coach of the Golden Arrows Clinton Larsen, GB Member Noel Stapelfeldt, Diski Team Coach Papi Zothwane and DHS Boys Jazimin Stapelfeldt and Kyle Thyssen, who both play for Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The Diski Shield is a knockout competition that the Reserve Golden Arrows players participate in. Held for the first time this year, teams participating in the Diski Shield were asked to nominate a school or institution that they would be socially involved with and to whom their winnings would go.
DHS was nominated by Lamontville Golden Arrows and this was the start of the partnership between the Club and School. To our delight, they were placed 3rd and presented their winnings to Mr Pinheiro at the launch … a cheque for R25 000.00!
Thank you Lamontville Golden Arrows! We look forward to a long and happy association.
